One of the guys I play with retired early from yesterdays game when his M4 CQB stoped firing.(JG fullmetal with V2 all metal gearbox)

After 4 or 5 shots after poping his mag and reseating /trying the wind-up pulling the trigger gave a nasty grinding noise.

Post-mortem at home reveiled an oversized BB jammed 2"-3" up the barrel with 6 or so BB's backed up to the hop-up. The jammed BB was removed using the standard cleaning rod. Its not damaged /dirty or warped just visibly bigger.
Gearbox strip down uncoved damage to all 3 main gears. Motor pinion gear is marked but looks OK.

I've done my own M100 downgrade on a V2 gearbox so I've been asked to put this back together :?

Question:
What other signs of damage should I be looking for??
Most cost effective repair?
Should we trust the pinion gear? can/should it be replaced or do we need a new motor?
Any other recomendations ?

Stray bits of metal from any of the gears (even tiny ones) will jam up the gears big time so check very carefully.
Also check the piston teeth for wear or damage and all air seals in and around the hopup which blow out with the back pressure.

Nukem...........

Cheers Mate,

You were right! the gearbox is full of tiny metal fillings. I'll make sure I remove all the old grease and replace with fresh.

I'll never thought about the hop-up.. I'll check that as well

Thanks
Nick

Still waiting for parts from EBairsoft...... dispached but traveling buy junk(or pedalo) ....

we might invest in a spare gearbox/ motor / hop-up to keep as spares... Might allow field-repairs during lunch???
